Motivation
Housing in San Diego is hard to find. We wanted to create an app that will help ease the process of finding a housing situation. We first conducted a survey to gather data. From out survey we performed categorization/coded the responses to find patterns. We noticed that for most people, they prefer living with roommates to obtain affordable housing. This was the base idea behind our app roomy.
Implementation
As a team of 7, we first used figma to create prototypes and user stories for our app. We wanted to visualize how a user might accomplish their goals, so we performed created user stories from two different perspectives.
The two main user groups of our app are landlords and tenants so we thought about the needs and problems of each. After, we began creating prototypes on figma.
I worked primarily on the frontend of this project. I used ReactJS and additionally MaterialUI to create the user interface for the main listings pages and SocketIO to connect the backend.
